11/26/2022 0 Comments Tc contender serial number range![]() I made it into a pistol once, and didn't like the grip feel at all, so that's why I use the G2 as a carbine and the old frames as pistols. But as a carbine I can shoot it pretty well. The G2 has a certain backlash once the gun is fired, that I really don't care for. You can make them perfect with just a few minor adjustments. One thing I definitely prefer on the older frames is the trigger. While we are happy with you going right out to the range and shooting for accuracy out of the box. I assume I could just fit a certain barrel or two to that frame and use them only on that frame, but haven't done so as of yet. 0 Comments While Im not a particular fan of the old 270 Winchester, I do agree with the father of that choice, the great Jack OConner. They just barely lock up on the frame when it's closed, and sometimes won't allow the hammer to fully drop. The newer "old style" frame I bought a couple years ago is in almost new condition, but none of my current barrels will fit it. I've had one of the frames since 1985 or so, and it and the G2 have worked with every barrel I've ever tried. The two older frames are set up as pistols. I have the G2 set up as a 30/30 carbine with a threaded muzzle. Most, would puff up all manly and schidt.I have two of the older frames and one G2. He liked to tell people how bad it kicked, then let them shoot it. Now feel absolutely free to being the azz that you clearly are.Ī now gone friend had an early Contender in 44. I was used to shooting 45LC's and 410's, with head near the open sight, 44mag had a bit more 'jump/kick' than either of those. Please tell me why you are afraid of a 44 mag on a Contender.Contender loads are hotter than a revolver or Marlin1894.I use that set up in a pistol for 10 years shooting handgun out to two hundred yards on Rams.Ī Contender is designed to be held differently than a 'pistol' 22M barrel or the 45/410 I ordered it with. I like mine much, much better with a scoped. Well now that this has come up, i inherited a Thompson contender when my brother passed in 1995, it is in 44 mag, how does one know what barrels will fit it, have no idea if there were different models or way of attaching barrels.īe careful shooting a Contender with the. ![]()
